We hope you had a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend, whether you traveled, hosted, or simply rested at home. This week, we wanted to give you something easy, fresh, and light… a little respite after all the richness of the holiday.

We’re making Salmon Poke Bowls. Bright, clean, colorful, and so simple to pull together. We're pairing it with a Cranberry Orange Bourbon Smash as a nod to the holiday season.  It's wintery and cozy without being heavy.

Be sure and check out this week's Table Talk and playlist as well!

And as always, we hope this Date Nite feels nourishing, flavorful, and easy to enjoy together. As always, thank you for being here and cooking with us each week.

notes from the kitchen

Just a few kitchen tips to make the most of this week's ingredients and flavors.

Salmon or Tuna

We made our bowls with salmon this week, but you can absolutely substitute sushi-grade ahi tuna if you prefer a more classic poke bowl. Both work beautifully with the marinade.

Cooked Protein Option

If raw fish isn’t your thing, no problem. You can quickly sear your salmon or tuna, or swap in cooked shrimp for an equally delicious bowl with the same toppings and sauces.

How to Cook the Rice

You can prepare your jasmine rice on the stovetop or in a rice cooker.

If you use a rice cooker, just follow your cooker’s instructions and then fluff with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt.

Toppings Are Flexible

Feel free to add whatever toppings you love. Classic options include cucumber, avocado, edamame, green onions, sesame seeds, and nori. Crispy wontons add great crunch, and the Japanese BBQ sauce brings a little sweet-savory depth.

Fish Roe (If You Can Find It)

Masago or tobiko (the tiny orange sushi-style fish eggs) add a salty pop and beautiful color. We couldn’t find any locally this week, so we left it off, but if you spot it at your Whole Foods or an Asian market, it’s a fantastic addition.
