A chilled Mint Julep cocktail served in a clear glass packed with crushed ice, garnished with a sprig of fresh mint against a dark background.

Mint Julep

A southern classic made with bourbon, fresh mint, and crushed ice. Cool, crisp, and strong.

This cocktail is part of our Date Nite collection, made to be sipped while you cook together.

Build Your Drink

Ingredients

  • 4–5 fresh mint leaves

  • ½ oz simple syrup

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • Splash of cold water

  • Mint sprig, for garnish

  • Crushed ice

Cocktail method

  1. Add the mint leaves and simple syrup to the bottom of a highball or julep cup.

  2. Gently muddle to release the mint oils — avoid tearing the leaves.

  3. Fill the glass with crushed ice.

  4. Add a splash of cold water and pour in the bourbon.

  5. Stir well until chilled and the cup appears frosty.

  6. Garnish with a mint sprig and enjoy!

Choose Your Bourbon Wisely

Since this cocktail is spirit-forward, the flavor of your bourbon really shines through. Go with one you enjoy sipping on its own, something smooth, slightly sweet, and not overly smoky.

Crushed Ice is a Must

The crushed ice isn't just for looks. It chills the drink quickly and melts slowly, giving you that perfect slow sipper without overwhelming the mint or bourbon.

No Muddler? No Problem.

If you don’t have a proper muddler, use the back of a spoon or the end of a wooden spatula. The goal is to gently press the mint to release its oils, not shred it into bits. If you'd like to get one, here is the muddler we have.

Prep Your Simple Syrup Ahead

Make a quick batch of simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water) and keep it in the fridge. It’ll last for up to two weeks and makes mixing a breeze whenever the craving strikes.

Try a Honey Twist

Want a warmer, floral note? Swap the simple syrup for honey syrup. It’s just as easy to make. Use equal parts honey and hot water, stir until combined, and cool before using. It blends more easily than straight honey and adds a subtle richness to your julep.

Because every drink deserves a beautiful moment.
