DATE NITE MENU:
Chicken Cordon Bleu
&
LImerence
Welcome to Date Nite — a simple, intentional way to cook together and slow down at home.
Date Nite was created to take the mental load out of planning dinner, so couples can focus on what actually matters: cooking side by side, sitting down together, and enjoying a well-thought-out night without stress or overcomplication. Each menu is designed with real life in mind, featuring approachable recipes, clear instructions, and just enough structure to keep the experience relaxed and enjoyable.
This menu brings that ease to the table with Chicken Cordon Bleu, a dish that feels a little elevated but is surprisingly doable at home. With crisp breading, melty cheese, and savory ham, it’s comforting, familiar, and deeply satisfying — the kind of meal that feels special without requiring a restaurant reservation. Paired with a bright Limerence cocktail, the night strikes a balance between cozy and refined.
You’ll find everything you need in the Weekly Essentials section, from your full menu to your shopping list, along with Notes from the Kitchen for helpful tips and prep guidance. We hope this taste of Date Nite makes cooking together feel easier, more intentional, and something you genuinely look forward to.

Chicken Cordon Bleu

notes from the kitchen
A few extra tips and tricks to help you get the most out of this week’s menu, straight from our own kitchen.
Prep Makes Perfect
To keep the cooking smooth and stress-free, start by slicing your chicken breasts in half horizontally—this gives you thinner, more even pieces to work with. Then use a flat meat mallet (or the bottom of a heavy pan) to pound them to about ¼-inch thickness. The thinner the cutlet, the faster and more evenly it will cook.
Cheese Swaps
We love the rich, nutty flavor of gruyère for this dish—it melts beautifully and adds just the right depth. But if you already have Swiss cheese on hand, that’s a perfectly classic and reliable option too.
Toothpick Trick
Once rolled, use toothpicks to secure your chicken bundles before cooking. Just be sure to count how many you use so none get left behind at the table!
Serve It Whole or Sliced
You can plate the chicken cordon bleu whole, or slice it crosswise into rounds to show off that golden spiral of cheese and ham. Sliced adds a nice visual wow factor if you're in the mood for a little extra presentation flair.
Breadcrumb Notes
Panko breadcrumbs give you a crispier, lighter coating, while traditional ones make for a denser, more classic crust. Use what you have, but don’t skip the toasting step—getting that golden color before baking makes all the difference.
