A quiet nook with a white chaise lounge, plant stand, and soft draped fabric, seen through an open doorway

I'm wired to feel environments deeply.

The lighting, the textures, the visual noise or the absence of it. I notice when a space has been thought about and when it hasn't. I've spent years designing my own homes this way, not to impress anyone, but because I love the feeling of being somewhere that's been intentionally cared for. The feeling of getting into a made bed at the end of the day. Waking up to a clean kitchen in the morning. A candle burning that creates the perfect late night glow. These aren't tasks I tell myself I have to do. They're conditions I create because I love what becomes possible inside them and the feeling they provide.

Home has always been a haven for us. Not a place we come home to out of obligation, but a place we want to be. We've filled it with things that feel good, warm tones, soft textures, a mix of black and white, and deep rich color contrast that feels thoughtful rather than accidental. We want to walk through the door and exhale, and we want our friends and loved ones to feel the same way, like they've landed somewhere that was already thinking about them before they arrived.

That's always been my definition of hospitality. Not perfection and not performance. Just the quiet work of creating an environment where someone can settle in and really enjoy themselves without having to work for it.

I've spent years doing this in our home. And when we started building this website, we realized we wanted to do the same thing here, because cooking in your kitchen should feel good.

For us, stepping into the kitchen is one of the great wind-downs of the day, the place where the stress of whatever came before gets left at the door and something slower and more sensory takes over. The unhurried pleasure of making something beautiful with your hands, good ingredients, the aromas filling the kitchen, a glass of something enticing nearby. That's what we love about being in the kitchen, and that's what we're trying to protect every time you visit our website, whether you're here for a cocktail recipe, a Date Nite menu, or just a little inspiration for tonight.

Which means the website itself cannot be the thing that gets in the way.

We've both cooked from food blogs for years and we know exactly what gets in the way. The video that starts playing over the ingredient list. The ad you accidentally click and suddenly you're on another website entirely. The tiny font, the endless scrolling, the visual noise pulling at your attention from every direction when all you wanted was to make dinner.

None of that is enjoyable, and to us, none of it belongs on a website that's asking you to slow down and cook something beautiful.

That's why we made a decision early on and we've never wavered from it. Kevin and Kate is an ad-free recipe website. On purpose, by choice, and without apology.

We don't want unnecessary things in our home and we don't want them here either. We were intentional about the user experience from the beginning. We want the recipes to be easy to read and easy to follow. We want the photography to be calm and beautiful. We want you to be able to find what you're looking for without wading through clutter. Everything that doesn’t help you enjoy the experience gets edited out, because that's how we think about our home and that's how we think about this website too. And we believe it can feel like a haven too.

We also want to be open about something else. Kevin & Kate is not only ad-free, it’s subscription based, and we made that choice just as intentionally. Instead of monetizing your attention through advertising, we’re inviting the people who value what we’re building to support it directly. We think that’s a cleaner, more honest exchange, and one that keeps us focused entirely on creating a thoughtful experience rather than chasing clicks.

We also understand that isn’t for everyone, and that’s completely okay. That’s why all of our cocktails are free, as well as our blog content. We want this to be a place anyone can come and find something worth making. But for those who want more, a Date Nite subscription gives you access to our full and growing library of weekly menus. We have over fifty complete evenings available right now, each one including a full dinner menu, a cocktail pairing, a grocery list, and all the small details that make a night at home feel like something you actually looked forward to. That library will continue to grow as we do.

We're not trying to be everywhere nor for everyone. We're also not trying to fill the internet with more noise. Rather, we're creating one small corner of the it that feels the way our home feels, warm, considered, worth lingering in, and genuinely good to be inside.

The right people don't need to be convinced. They simply arrive, look around, and quietly think, I've been looking for something like this.

If that's you, we're so glad you found us.
