Make-Ahead: Marinate the Steak & Toast the Bread

You can prep one or both elements of this meal ahead of time to keep things relaxed. We definitely recommend marinating the steak in advance—3 to 4 hours is ideal, but even an hour makes a difference. If you're prepping earlier in the day, just let the steak sit at room temp for about 30 minutes before cooking.

Toasting the bread cubes for the panzanella can also be done ahead. If you’d rather do it during your Date Nite, toast them first so they have time to cool before adding to the salad. Warm bread can steam the other ingredients and make things soggy, so a little breathing room goes a long way.
