Winter Margarita

A vibrant twist on the classic margarita. Tart, spiced, and beautifully balanced.

A ruby-red Hibiscus Spiced Winter Margarita served over crushed ice in a sugar-rimmed glass, garnished with rosemary, a cinnamon stick, and star anise against a dark background.

Spiced Hibiscus Syrup


Ingredients
  • 2 cups water

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers

  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 2 orange peels

  • 1 cup sugar (or equal to the amount of brewed tea)


Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, hibiscus flowers, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and orange peels.

  2. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 3–4 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat and let steep for 15 minutes.

  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing gently to extract the liquid (you should have about 1 cup).

  5. Return the liquid to the saucepan and add sugar, stirring over low heat until fully dissolved.

  6. Cool to room temperature, then transfer to a jar or bottle and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.



Winter Margarita


Ingredients
  • 2 oz blanco tequila

  • 1 oz spiced hibiscus syrup

  • ¾ oz lime juice

  • ½ oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)

  • Optional: pinch of chili salt or cinnamon-sugar rim


Instructions
  1. Rim your glass with sugar or chili salt.

  2. Add tequila, hibiscus syrup, lime juice, and orange liqueur to a shaker with ice.

  3. Shake until chilled and strain over crushed ice.

  4. Garnish with rosemary, cinnamon stick, or star anise.
