Kevin's Sunday

A stirred, spirit-forward gin cocktail layered with amaro, dry vermouth, and a hint of maraschino for a slow, bittersweet finish.

Because every drink deserves a beautiful moment.

Dark amber stirred gin cocktail served in a chilled coupe glass with condensation, garnished with a small lavender sprig against a black background.
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 ounces gin

  •  3/4 ounce Amaro Averna

  •  1/2 ounce dry vermouth

  •  1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur

  •  1 dash orange bitters

  •  1 drop saline (optional but highly recommended)

  •  lemon twist or lavender, garnish

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Add gin, Amaro Averna, dry vermouth, maraschino liqueur, orange bitters, and saline (if using) to a mixing glass.

  2. Fill with cold ice and stir for 20–25 seconds until properly chilled and diluted.

  3. Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora or coupe glass.

  4. Express a long lemon peel across the surface and place neatly on the rim.

Notes from the Bar

Cocktail STRUCTURE

This cocktail is stirred, not shaken. Proper dilution is essential to keep it luminous and structured rather than heavy. Stir the full 20–25 seconds over cold ice.

GIN SELECTION

We recommend Roku or Uncle Val’s for their clean botanical structure. Both allow the amaro to shine while keeping the cocktail balanced and precise.

SALINE DETAILS

A single drop of saline sharpens the citrus and enhances balance. It will not make the drink taste salty, it simply tightens the edges and brightens the finish.

To make your own saline solution, combine 80 grams water with 20 grams fine sea salt (or 4 ounces water with 1 ounce salt). Stir until fully dissolved.

If measuring by volume, combine 1/4 cup water with 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon fine salt. Store in a small dropper bottle.

GARNISH

Express a long lemon peel generously across the surface before placing it neatly on the rim. The citrus oils set the tone for the first sip.

GLASSWARE

Serve in a chilled Nick & Nora or coupe. Clean lines. No ice. No clutter.

Make It a Date Nite

This cocktail is part of something bigger for us. It's a ritual we return to week after week.

Each week, we create a Date Nite designed around one drink, one thoughtful menu, and the feeling of slowing down together. The kind of night where the table is set with intention, the music hums softly in the background, and the evening unfolds without rushing.

For this Date Nite, we’ve paired a cocktail with a cozy, make-ahead-friendly menu, so you can enjoy the process without spending the whole night in the kitchen. We also include little touches we love like timing notes, a head start option, and a playlist to set the mood. Feel to pair the meal with any of our cocktails.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about presence. And turning an ordinary night at home into something that feels quietly special.

Each Date Nite includes a curated menu, cocktail pairing and a playlist, as well as another thoughtful extras like make-ahead tips, leftover ideas or table talk prompts to carry the night.
