A tequila margarita built with fresh grapefruit, Aperol, and a squeeze of lime. Lightly sweetened with agave, bitter-citrusy, and a little more interesting than your average margarita.

This cocktail is part of our Date Nite collection, made to be sipped while you cook together.

COCKTAIL RECIPE

Makes 1 cocktail

1 oz blanco tequila
1 oz Aperol
2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/4 oz agave
Margarita salt, for the rim
Grapefruit slice, for garnish

Rim a rocks glass with agave and margarita salt and fill it with crushed ice. Add the tequila, Aperol, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and agave to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until well chilled, about 15 seconds. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a grapefruit slice.

NOTES FROM THE BAR

Heads up: We may earn a small commission on products we’ve linked here. We only recommend the real-deal favorites from our kitchen.

APEROL IN A MARGARITA

Aperol replaces the traditional triple sec here, adding a bittersweet orange note that pairs really well with grapefruit. It also gives the drink that warm, peachy-orange color.

ADJUST AGAVE TO TASTE

We use 1/4 oz to let the grapefruit stay front and center. If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink, bump it to 1/2 oz.

salt RIM

We prefer this margarita with a salt rim, but you can also use Tajín salt or a spicy margarita salt. → Link to our favorite pink himalayan margarita salt

TEQUILA RECOMMENDATION

A clean and citrus-forward blanco tequila works best here. Espolòn or Olmeca Altos are solid everyday options.

FRESH GRAPEFRUIT

Fresh-squeezed makes a real difference in this one. Bottled grapefruit juice tends to be sweeter and less bright, which throws off the balance.

A RITUAL WE RETURN TO

Our cocktails are part of something bigger for us. They’re the beginning of Date Nite, a connection-centered experience we created to help you slow down, share a meal, and enjoy time with the one you love.

Each Date Nite is thoughtfully planned for you, so you are not stuck deciding what to cook or how to pull the night together. We pair one cocktail with a complete menu, a simple flow from prep to plate, and small details that make the evening feel easy and connected from start to finish.

It is not about perfection. It is about presence, and creating space to reconnect, whether that is with your partner or simply with yourself, over a really good meal.
