NOTES FROM THE BAR
Heads up: We may earn a small commission on products we’ve linked here. We only recommend the real-deal favorites from our kitchen.
FIG JAM OVER FIG SYRUP
Fig jam gives this drink concentrated fig flavor and a little body without a separate syrup to make ahead. Stirring it with the bourbon first helps it dissolve fully before the ice goes in.
BLACK WALNUT BITTERS
This is what gives the drink its deeper, slightly nutty backbone against the sweetness of the fig. If you don't have black walnut bitters on hand, orange bitters make a reasonable substitute, though the flavor will lean brighter instead of richer. → Shop our black walnut bitters
GARNISH
A fresh fig slice on the rim ties the drink back to what's inside the glass and gives it a beautiful cross section of color against the dark bourbon.
