1/2 oz apple butter syrup
2 dashes aromatic bitters
1 dash orange bitters
Orange peel or dried apple slice, for garnish

NOTES FROM THE BAR
Heads up: We may earn a small commission on products we’ve linked here. We only recommend the real-deal favorites from our kitchen.
APPLE BUTTER SYRUP
Whisk together 1/4 cup apple butter and 1/4 cup hot water until completely smooth. This makes enough syrup for 2 cocktails, so double it for a larger batch and refrigerate any leftovers. Unlike a standard simple syrup, apple butter syrup is made with equal parts fruit and water, so it adds rich apple flavor and a silky texture rather than intense sweetness.
BOURBON MATTERS
A bourbon with some caramel or vanilla character rounds out the apple butter beautifully. Look for something in the mid-range, you want enough backbone to stand up to the syrup without it turning into dessert.
DRIED APPLE GARNISH
We buy ours dried and ready to go, no dehydrator required. Look for slices thin enough to perch on the rim without weighing it down. → Shop our favorite dried apple slices
BATCH IT FOR HOSTING
To batch for 6, multiply everything but the ice by 6, and mix the apple butter syrup in a larger batch ahead of time. Stir individual glasses over fresh ice rather than premixing the whole batch with ice, so it doesn't water down before serving.
